Guess who had a snow day yesterday? We had a fantastic snowstorm that started on Thursday afternoon and petered out sometime between Friday and Saturday, which provided the perfect opportunity for lots of playing outside, shoveling (lots of shoveling), drinking hot chocolate, and sledding.
Today we are going around the neighbourhood to collect for the bottle drive. Hopefully most people have already cleared their walkways!
If you have any glass or plastic bottles, aluminum cans, or juice boxes you'd like to contribute, someone will be here all day, from 8am to 8pm to accept donations. If you don't live around here, why not take your recyclables in for redemption and donate the total to Canadian Red Cross or Mennonite Central Committee to support their Haitian relief and rebuilding efforts?
And finally, if you haven't caught this amazing little story yet, watch this video. Charlie Simpson is 7 years old and has raised more than $320,000 for Haiti so far. I love what the man near the end says, that "children reach out with their hearts in a remarkable way."
