As I'm sure every one of you already knows, Haiti was hit by a 7.0 earthquake last night that caused incredible destruction, the epicentre being only 15 kilometres from the capital city of Port-au-Prince.
Money is the thing that is needed right now to support the immediate needs in Haiti. And CIDA (the Canadian International Development Agency) is matching funds donated through registered charities up until February 12, which means that your money goes twice as far!
The other night we were brainstorming at the dinner table about how we could raise more money to donate to relief efforts. We had a couple of ideas, one of them being a bottle drive. If you live around here and don't mind saving up your bottles, pop cans, and juice boxes for a week, could you leave a comment and let me know? We'd come pick them up.
And I would love to hear what ideas the rest of you have for fundraising!

Great idea posting this on your blog! And aweosme that your family is getting involved!
So there are a million bottles in our garage (k maybe not a million but enough that I was annoyed at them when I was home). THat said, they are all yours sister :) Two things: 1. you don't need to pick them up because we live in the sticks so I'll try to remember to get Jason to bring them to you, remind me if they arne't there some time in the next week 2. how do you feel about beer bottles? should we leave those out?
No way, man -- we'll take everything! That's awesome, Erin!
I know I told you already, but I'm telling you again, bottles = here!
