Hey, guess what? We're still alive!
Here's the quick n' dirty update on us:
- Those of us who do school have been back to it. Great fun. I am in the stage of reminding myself that it is a privilege to get a university education, even if ridiculous midterm exams don't feel like a privilege right now.
- I GOT MY LICENSE LAST WEEK!!! I'm feeling pretty proud of myself and a little baffled by the mobility. On the one hand, I got up at 7am on Saturday to head to the market (the one that's a little too far for biking if I'm bringing back 10 lbs of apples and a dozen eggs when it feels like -4!), and meandered and took my merry ol' time, all by myself. On the other hand, I called for a ride to small group last night, and it a full five minutes of conversation passed (during which my new license was discussed) before I realized that I didn't need a drive. Doh!
- Malcolm is in a pretty awesome youth orchestra program -- truly amazing, and exciting, and FREE! By the end of the year, he will be able to play the violin, viola, cello, or bass. Amazing, huh?
- Maren is thrilled to bits with all the extracurricular activities available to her now that she is in grade three. Cross-country running, chess, choir, reading club, gymnastics... and we're just getting started! She loves to try out new activities and I'm really grateful that school can provide some of those opportunities. Maybe they can even persuade her towards sports. (crossing fingers)
That's all I've got for you today -- all my creative writing is being poured into an 18 hour take-home exam, creative journal, Effective Writing assignments, and another assigned journal. Just the facts here tonight, folks.

CONGRATULATIONS on getting your licence- how exciting!! Glad to hear that Maren and Malcolm are enjoying new opportunities too. Thanks for the update!
Yay for extra-curricular, FREE school activities. And SUPER YAY for license! When are you coming to my house to visit!?!?! :)
Dude I hear you on the school stuff! Feel free to call and complain any time :) because I certainly get it. Although I don't have the family component right now. You're right it's a privledge but it doesn't always feel like that huh? Far too often I find myself complaining and wondering just what I was thinking. Thanks for the healthy perspective reminder :) I'll be thinking of you while I do my midterms!
sorry super english chick for not spelling a word correctly on your blog!
