So there's been a long, drawn-out bout of construction stopping up part of the express bus route since the spring. Apparently the transit system's solution was to divide the express into two routes, so that one comes straight up Mountain Road and doesn't have to deal with the construction delays. (Don't worry if this seems confusing to you: that's because it is.)
A friend and I got off the shuttle bus onto the express that goes through the construction, which is less desirable, but more desirable than waiting for the next one in the rain. We had a very interesting discussion about the ethics of studying world literature and the usefulness of German in academics until we got back to the place we started. The bus driver poked his head around the edge of his seat and stared at us. I waved.
"Do you folks know where you're going?"
"Um, downtown?"
Not on this bus, apparently. It ONLY does one section of the route, apparently. And it's against the rules to keep riding around in circles, apparently.
That was good for a chuckle!

I've consulted with Mr. Transit expert sitting next to me here, you know the guy who reads the Transit website everyday. He has some big complicated explanation that I don't understand. He offers consultations for free, if you're interested :)
Funny story, although I'm not sure I would have thought it was too funny in the moment!
