We Come to the Conclusion...

I don't know how many of you keep an eye on the "Currently Reading..." sidebar, but you may have noticed that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has moved down to the "Just Finished Reading..." list. J.K. Rowling is a master of "turn-the-pagery"... we stayed up until 2:30AM to finish it! (It might have been only 2AM if crying breaks hadn't been required.) It feels a little like pulling into the station at the end of a great roller coaster. Satisfying.

Mitch bought the first three for me six Christmases ago and we've read the whole series aloud to each other (much to the frustration of friends who couldn't wait to talk about them!). Who knew that Harry Potter would be a marriage builder?

In other reading news, last month's book club selection was The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls. What an incredible book! Astounding. Riveting. It's a memoir, which is a genre I really enjoy anyway. The author's childhood was unusual in the extreme. I found it especially interesting after reading it to listen to interviews with the Jeannette Walls and hear her perspective on her parents. Highly recommended.

sigh....I really wish I had the reading passion. Oh I never told you... I actually read the WHOLE book that you gave me on slavery in Sudan (thanks for that by the way). Got any other ones like that that I can trade in for? That's probably the first whole book I've read in at least 10 years! I'm the master at starting a book, reading the first 3-4 chapters and then never picking it up again :)

Okay, #1: be who you are! It's cool if you're not a big reader, Erin!

#2: I'm glad you enjoyed the book (enjoyed? I don't know if that's the right word). I had a feeling it would catch your interest.

#3: I do have another book you'd dig! It's What is the What by Dave Eggers, and is the story of a Sudanese Lost Boy.

Hi, oh no no think you took that the wrong way. I know it's cool if I'm not a big reader I just sometimes wish I was because I see how much others enjoy it. Kind of like how others wish they could bake like me :) I get it, no worries! Nope I would say enjoyed...feed my passion and that's always a good thing for me. So yup enjoyed, reminded me why I do the things I do everyday and in this line of work that's very important for those frusrtating days! Lastly, YAY perhaps another book I'll finish...what are the chances :) I'll have to get that form you some time! Thanks for being willing to let me borrow that one.
