Well, well, well! Maren is the luckiest person I know. A month or so ago, she entered a contest on Scholastic's website. "I hope I win!" she said.
"I hope you win, too, Maren. There are a lot of kids entering the contest, though—more than a hundred—and only a couple will get to win the books." Sure enough, she came home yesterday with a box of FIFTY BOOKS!
Mitch told her, "Maren, you seem to have great potential for winning things."
"Yeah, I win lots of things. And I can run really fast."

Oh my oh my! That is SOOO fun that you won all those books Maren! And that is A LOT of books! I wonder how long it will take you to read them all?
Congratulations Maren!
Perhaps a great present for your 6th birthday would be for Grampie to build you a BIG, BIG bookcase!
Love, Grammie
Maren, I am so happy and excited for you. What a great gift for you. I hope you enjoy every book, and have fun reading all of them.
Here's a parental-pride moment:
Maren has decided to spread the joy of books around. She chose ten for herself, then let Malcolm choose some for himself, and left the rest for our whole family to share.
She had received three titles that we already owned, so she decided to give those to her kindergarten classroom, and sweetened the deal with another five or six. And not just the duds that she didn't like! She says, "I really enjoy the pictures in those books, so I thought my class would enjoy them, too."
