Hey, I just noticed that it's almost our first blog-iversary! In honour of this momentous occasion, the "those marvelous mealeys" award ceremonies have been scheduled for Monday.*
Why should I care, you ask? Well, if you've been reading this blog for a while (by which I mean more than a week or so), you are invited to be a member of an esteemed panel of judges.
Which posts stick out in your memory? You even get to invent the award category (such as "Most Helpful," "Most Pirate-y," or "Best Example of Voluntary Humiliation on the Internet"). Heck, you can even come up with a better name for the awards!
Nominations will be accepted until Monday morning, so get down with yo' bad nominatin' self. Me? I'll be busy sculpting a tin foil trophy.
* Yes, I do realize that I'm creating an award ceremony to award myself. Wanna make somethin' of it?

oh my soul. what a "marvelous" idea.
well mel...i absolutely LOVE your blogs. you come up with the best titles, so i guess the award would be "best blog namer" - going to melanie mealey (i think!)??! :)
also...i love the convos between maren & malcolm (ie. "chastened" from july 25, 2006).
lol. always a great read. :)
i like the thought of "best blog jump" for that picture of maren and malcolm at the apple orchard.
The winner for the "I can't believe that you put that on the web for all to see" award is...
Feb. 15th, 2006...Malcolm on the toliet doing his business with a bucket on his head!
Honourable mention goes to...
Aug. 30th, 2006...Maren on the beach in her birthday suit!
Congratulations to all!!!! And, thanks for playing!
(Debie)
I would like to give the nod to Malcom for the Sept. 18 entry...The joliness barometer. It's the one where he was wearing the wig downtown to the market. I remeber being stressed that day until I checked the blog and was reminded of how free and fun life can be.
I second Debie's nomination for "I can't believe you put that on the web for all to see"... the one of Malcolm on the toilet. It's the first one that came to mind!
Hi!
Well, what can we say?
Naturally, seeing the cherubs and reading their "stuff" simply makes our day as well.
We actually have a nomination re. the "Bucket on the Head" post:
"Best Supporting Props" Award
Love, Bob&Barb
"Can I have one?" for the Selflessness award.
"Sign Me up" for best happy place
Best post-feminist Activism award goes to - "While I'm on the topic"
i agree with best selflessness award for the one about the milkshakes! maybe that one would be the best parental moment though....
Under the "Bobby Fischer Award for Excellence in Boardgames," I'd like to nominate Draughts.
Ok well it's too hard to pick just one! So thinking back here are the posts that stand out (sorry I'm not creative enough to come up with interesting categories!!): bucket head Malcolm for sure, in fact all quirky Malcolm posts usually make me laugh (including the wig post for sure), posts related to Maren's understanding or processing of her world (Nov 1, "If A = B" was hilarious, as was her crasee family note), I really enjoyed Melanie's "I've been thinking..." stuff ("Awards and Rewards" Nov 9, "Beauty" Oct 30 - the anonymous reader comments kept me coming back for sure), and I LOVE the thumbsucking post! That one is probably my favorite by far! Barb's picture was an excellent addition, and I can't wait to use the whole white pants get up to roast Scott someday! I've appreciate your photo's a lot as well (all that reading is so over-rated!!!). Mostly I just enjoyed feeling connected to your family. Thanks for opening your home and lives to us, or, um, me atleast!!
Okay, I'll finally decide some awards. (How is a father really suppose to judge his own family members?) Anyway....
For The Coming Back Begging For More Award - the dove campaign comment swap
For The Get Me Everytime Award - Malcolm on the toilet seat, with the wig, and the best, the skateboard down the pants
For The Beauty of Logic Award - Maren in "if A=B..."
There I think I handled that very diplomatically if I must say.

I'm really impressed in your choice of award titles Mitch! I completely agree with the "coming back begging for more" award, especially since I got myself involved I couldn't stay away.
