In other news... I learned from a friend's blog yesterday about this ridiculously easy, practically zero-effort way to help raise money for Oxfam Canada, a well-established organization whose mission is to "build lasting solutions to global poverty and injustice." Are you ready? Here it is: save stamps. Yep, that's it. Just tear off the corner of the envelope with the stamp on it. How easy is that? Get the nitty-gritty details here.
You know, sometimes I think we can be a bit like Namaan, from the Old Testament story. I would jump at the chance to do something noble and heroic for Oxfam, but it's a whole lot less glamorous to simply save stamps. Yet this little thing raises about $10,000 every year. That's pretty good "bang for your buck," I'd say!

Dear little Malcolm, I can appreciate where he is coming from. My dad put pepper, and tried everything on my thumb to stop me from thumb sucking. I didn't stop on my own until I was around 12 or 13,my poor teeth have suffered as a result though. So good luck with your quest, it may be a tough one.
Thanks for pushing the stmap thing Mel. I think I need to get a few blogging lessons from you with the links and pics and such. Until then I'll just admire the neatness of your blog :)
Dave sucked his thumb till he was 12 or 13 too, but his teeth didn't incur any damage. I guess it all depends on technique.
Janet - do / did any of your boys suck their thumbs? Is it hereditary?
Mel, were your or Mitch thumb-suckers?
Nope, neither one of us were thumbsuckers. We each had one thumb-sucking sibling. Seems to be random! Maren wasn't a thumbsucker, either.
Janet, that's encouraging about Dave's dentally-correct technique! Is he giving lessons?
Yes, Noah sucks his thumb. It really seems to be something the baby of a family does - or at least the second or third born. I don't think I've ever heard of a first born sucking thier thumb.
I'll ask Dave if he remembers the tecnique he used! He he. Of course, I was kind of kidding about this, but there must be some truth to it - Dave really does have pretty perfect looking teeth. I'm hoping that Noah has inherited his Daddy's technique!
