Maren missed the "bus" this morning. Since we also drive her cousin to school, time of departure is non-negotiable. After much dilly-dallying and dawdling this morning on her part (followed by a few tears), Malcolm and I took Maren to school... about a twenty minute walk at adult speed, one way.Upon arrival at the school, Maren discovered her lunch had been left by the front door. Aaaargh!
As we set out on the third leg of the journey, my mood was sour. I huffed and puffed pulling the wagon up the hill, at which point I heard Malcolm singing one of his favourite Fred Penner songs:
You can do it if you try
You can do it if you try
You can do-do-doodly-do it if you try
In other news...
Maren is becoming quite the reader. She has mastered such classics as The Mix, Cat on the Mat, and Meg the Hen. Dr. Seuss, here we come! The patience and tenacity involved in learning to read is incredible. If I had even half the stick-to-it-ivness she does, I'd get a lot more accomplished!
