Grand Total ...

So, the totals are in for the bottle drive for Haiti! Thanks to lots of hard work on the kids' part, a boost from Aidan (who gave us two huge bags of recyclables he had collected from the school), and a hefty donation from an individual who wants to remain anonymous, the neighbourhood raised $728! The kids were very shy about submitting the cheques to the Red Cross and MCC, but proud of the results. I am so glad that we were able to facilitate their impulse to help.

I firmly believe that we have been designed to respond to need, and that we either despair or harden when we don't, so I hope you are all inspired and encouraged to respond in some way, however small, to the needs that you encounter--whether they are in your own family, your community, or in the news.
