Off to TO

In case you missed out on the post-provincial chess tournament news: Malcolm got fourth place in the kindergarten division, Aidan scored the silver in the grade two division, and Maren won gold! Maren and Aidan both won their other four games, so it came down to their match against each other to determine who would go to the nationals. Amazing, eh?

So, we're off to Toronto in the (very) early morning tomorrow and get back (very) late on Monday night. We'll have lots of time to check out fun stuff around Toronto on Friday and Saturday, and the matches will be on Sunday and Monday. Maren is very excited for the trip (and maybe just a teensy bit nervous).

I'll make sure that Maren gets any well-wishes and encouragement left in the comments!

Well, Maren, I hope that you have a great trip! Flying is really fun, and you will see so many amazing things in Toronto, too. Plus, it's fun to stay in a hotel! You make your school and chess club and province very, very proud...you are one special representative. You rock! Have fun, and don't worry about the results!

We are so excited for you, Maren, and Mama too, as you see amazing new places and meet new friends to play chess with. There is a special "glass" sidewalk at the top of the CN Tower where Grampie and I could see the whole city of Toronto! We can hardly wait for you to tell us what you thought of it.We love you and will pray for you.
