2008 Round-Up (Late, because do we ever do things any other way around here?)

Here's a summary of 2008, according to the first sentences of the first post each month last year....

***

January: So here we are in 2008! I sincerely hope that all of you had a restful and meaningful holiday season.

February: Hey Mitch, can I have one of these for my birthday?

March: How thrilling! March is here! Sunshine and birthday celebrations and March Break!

April: Here is my April Fools' joke on the kids... which is only hilarious if you understand that I cannot imagine any circumstance under which my children would eat a fried egg, period, let alone sunny side up.

May: Warning: this story make cause hysterics, loss of breath, and/or loss of bladder control.

June: "Don't forget to bring home this duotang tomorrow."

July: It may take me a while to follow through, but I am a woman of my word.

August: Shalom (שָׁלוֹם): a Hebrew word meaning peace, nothing missing, nothing broken, wellbeing, and complete

September: Can you believe it? Already, it's the first day of kindergarten for Malcolm, my youngest. (Is it possible? How did this cliché catch up to us?)

October: It's very convenient that the U.S. election is coming up and they have Hollywood and that cute blonde kid that used to be on Growing Pains has gotten together a bunch of Hollywood-types to pull the reverse psychology trick to get people to vote while we are also having an election up here (you know about this, right?), because then if you weren't necessarily fired up about our election yet, you could watch this video and get all inspired to show up on election day.

November: Parent-teacher interviews were this week. (I've always wondered why they make us sit in those tiny kid-sized chairs. Surely it wouldn't be impossible to bring in a few regular-sized chairs from the cafeteria?)

December: Well hello! I feel a bit like a big ol' mama bear emerging from her den in the spring, blinking in the sunlight and surprised to see life happening all around.
