What a blessing his safe arrival is! We are so thrilled that he has come into a home as loving and godly as Chris and Jenn's.
You may have noticed that in addition to being huge (10lbs 7oz), he is also ADORABLE! I am anxiously awaiting the passing of my lingering cold so that we can go spend some quality time with the three of them.

Maren and Malcolm have started up chess for the year, both at the school and city clubs. They were pretty pleased to both come home with medals from last Friday's weekly tournament and have been cracking up every time they refer to themselves as "chess monsters." I'll try to post a picture or two soon.

There are some changes ahead for Malcolm... his kindergarten class is over the class size limit, so they will be dividing the class this week. He will be heading into a kindergarten/grade one split, which we are thrilled about, actually.
Maren's kindergarten year was a bit difficult because she found the work repetitive and boring, and the teachers weren't responsive to her need for challenge. Malcolm is starting out ahead of where Maren was in terms of literacy and math concepts, so a K/1 split seems like a really good fit for him. And even the kids who stay in the kindergarten class will need to adjust to a new teacher in January, since the regular teacher will be taking the rest of the year off to do course upgrades.
Those of you who pray, please pray for a smooth adjustment, not just for Malcolm, but the whole class and the new teacher.

If I don't get around here again before next week, there are two things I want to say to you all:
1) VOTE! Don't forget!
2) Be grateful... celebrate Thanksgiving well with people you love.

Hey Mel, great newsy posts. I love these kind.
Just wanted to let you know that voting is Tuesday...don't waste your time trying to go on Monday. :o)
Thanks for the correction, Deb! It wouldn't be the first time I've showed up on the wrong day for an important event... but I don't need to drag everyone else along!
