Here is my April Fools' joke on the kids... which is only hilarious if you understand that I cannot imagine any circumstance under which my children would eat a fried egg, period, let alone sunny side up. In fact, a dramatic display of dry-heaving at the table would have been completely unsurprising.
Not to worry, though, I didn't actually subject my children to the indignity of fried eggs. That is a clever combination of yogurt and apricot halves (thanks to Family Fun for the inspiration). Did any of you get pranked? Or pull a prank?

That's hilarious. I actually thought they were eggs...then I read the April Fool's title, and thought maybe they were plastic.
Good morning Mel,
Aunt Deb here...I got up bright and early this morning with the intent of doing some writing. However, I decided first of all to try to once again enter your blog, as I wish to say "Happy Birthday". In any case, as I began the process of setting up an account etc...I became so engaged in your stories, recipes etc. that I lost track of time.
Before I write too much more, I want to ensure that this actually gets posted...
Love, Aunt Deb
Yippee!!!
It looks as though I can now post comments...
I thought of you yesterday, and hope that your birthday was a truly happy one. You are one of a kind Mel, and I feel so blessed to have a connection with you and your family. I look forward to reading your blogs- and those yummy recipes will work very well for me too. Over the past little while I have been attempting to move in the direction of vegetarian fare, so I am looking for good recipes- like the Bean and Orzo Minestrone...
Looking forward to satying in touch.
Love, Aunt Deb
genius!!! way to go, mommy! er...mel!!! ;D
Welcome, Aunt Deb... glad the comments have finally worked out for you. I didn't know you were hopping on the vegetarian wagon! We still eat meat and fish occasionally, but have found all kinds of tasty things to eat from the non-meat world.
Thanks for the birthday wishes! I look forward to hearing from you here in our little corner of the internet.
