I found this uber-crazy thing on the web: rather than being an optical illusion, your perception of this spinning dancer depends on which side of the brain you use more. It makes my brain hurt to think about how exactly it works. Doesn't seem possible!
Maren is very curious about which direction most people would see the dancer spinning (she sees clockwise, but can make her switch direction). Check it out and report back to us in the comments! Do you see clockwise or counter-clockwise? Are you able to make her switch direction?

that's cool! i can only see her counter-clockwise but for a second, i saw her the other way when i was reading the article. ben saw both ways, how i don't know. (-:
Wow, my experience was the same as Rachel, but opposite. She was spinning clockwise no matter how much I stared/squinted/shook my head. But when I started reading the article, she started spinning counter-clockwise. After that, she switched back and forth.
What I want to know is why did they giver he nipples? It's the same with department store mannequins. Why bother with the nipples!!??
Clockwise all the way. I didn't hang around long enough to see if she would change directions.
That chick needs some clothes!
Maren, I saw the her switch directions. Aidan
The typo above is the mother's fault.
I am curious to know what the adults in your house (aka. Mama & Papa) see.
I (Aunt Debie) see the dancer turn both ways...I think that it is depending on what I am thinking. It's very cool. We'll have to give Uncle Scott a go on this when he gets back home.

I see the dancer spinning clockwise. I tried and tried to see her the other way, but couldn't get it. Then when I read the article, I think she did start spinning counter-clockwise for a second. I could only see this when I was reading the article though.... weird! Very interesting.
Crazy, isn't it? My natural inclination is to see clockwise, but I can switch it at will. Mitch saw both directions almost immmediately.
Looking forward to hearing what the rest of you lurkers see, too!
I just asked Greg to do this and he sees her counter-clockwise. I don't get it. It's just so weird! No matter how hard I try, I can only see her spinning clockwise. Oh dear.... well I guess we balance each other!
This is too weird. One moment I looked and the dancer is going clockwise, then when I turn my head and look back, she is turning counterclockwise. Hmmmmm, what does that mean?
I see it clockwise. No matter what I did, I couldn't see it the other way, even when I tried reading the article! But then, I started watching TV and out of the corner of my eye, I saw it moving counter-clockwise! Though when I looked, it went right back to clockwise. Weird!!

i can only see it clockwise...john could also only see her turning clockwise.
It took me a while, but I figured out how to make her switch directions. It was neat!
