Maren does realize that she can't actually marry family members... in fact, it's a major source of stress for her. Considering the narrowing list of eligible bachelors, the other day she said exasperatedly, "I don't know who to marry! I know I can't marry Aidan. I know I can't marry Malcolm. I know can't marry Rory. I just don't know who I can marry!"
It is a toughie.

This could open the door to an interesting commentary of both the value of marrying like minded people (being equally yolked) or the vast need of more male believers...
