Today's Specials Are...

Maren wrote her requests for today's lunchbox on our chalkboard last night... another useful application of her newly acquired writing skills! I laughed a bit when I read a letter from the teacher outlining goals for the next six weeks. One of the goals is "Take risks with temporary spelling to get ideas on paper." Although Maren needed a little encouragement a few months ago to try out her own spellings, I think she's okay with it now, don't you?

P.S. Bonus points to anyone who can decipher both words beginning with C!

I'm with Erin on quesadilla and carrots. Excellent lunchbox choices, Maren.

(This is Janice. For some reason, I can't leave comments in my own name anymore.)

Good for you Erin! I went to post the same list, thought I had the advantage with raising 4 children.
Hats off to teaching your children healthy food choices you guys. Maren is amazing, all of that good food will keep body and mind pretty sharp.

It hadn't occurred to me that Maren's requests might be oddly healthy, but now that you all point it out, I can see that might be a little out of the ordinary! She does enjoy a treat now and then, but for now she associates meals with healthy foods. Give her another year or two observing other kids' lunches and that may change!
