Applesauce Cereal Snack Bars

You know how it always seems to work out that there isn't enough cereal at the bottom of the box for a full bowl? I found this yummy recipe a few years ago that is great for using up the leftovers. I keep a container in the cupboard for collecting cereal odds 'n ends. Yum yum yum!

Applesauce Cereal Snack Bars

4 cups cereal
2 cup raisins (or other dried fruit)
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup brown sugar, loosely packed
3 teaspoons cinnamon
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup applesauce
1 egg

1. Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl until well blended.

2. Spray pan with cooking spay.

3. To make bars, press mixture into a cookie sheet.**

4. Bake at 350°F for 20-30 minutes until crisp and golden.

5. Cut into squares or bars, cool and enjoy. Store in an airtight container. (They never last more than a couple days at our house so I'm not sure how long they are shelf stable.)

6. Don't forget to clean up—almost as much fun as the baking!

**This is the doubled version of the recipe. The original recipe suggested usinga 9x9 pan.
