The picture-loading component of blogger seems to be on the fritz* today, so I'll amuse you with an anecdote that came home with the kids after their last sleepover at Grammie and Grampie's:
As her grandmother climbed up on a chair to reach something, Maren said thoughtfully, "Grammie... did you know... that when people get old sometimes they get shorter? So since you're so short, you must be very old."
*I'm often intrigued and amused by the origins of common figures of speech, but "on the fritz" is one that seems to have come out of nowhere. Fill me in if you just happen to be acquainted with the history of the phrase!

Hey Mel,
Even wordorigins.org couldn't help with "On the Fritz". It's first recorded use was in 1902, but the origins remain unclear.
