Mitch and I celebrated our eighth anniversary last week. The kids had a sleepover at Grammie and Grampie's this weekend while we headed out to a cottage on the beach, courtesy of some good friends.

It was amazing to have extended uninterrupted leisure time... no computer, television, ringing phone, or anything else to disturb the serious business of relaxing and enjoying one another's company. And we did... I hope that twenty or thirty years from now we still genuinely like each other!

This anniversary is a good one: although we've gone through some really difficult things over the past year, I think those things have made our marriage stronger. So hooray for getting married and God's help! And for generous friends and quiet beaches!
