Mutant Breakfast

If you know me, you might know that I am prone to doing weird things with food and trying out odd recipes (like Pumpkin Alfredo Sauce. It's grrr-eat!). So here's what we tried out this morning....

I had an avocado that had been overlooked for a few days and was too ripe. So the avocado went into the blender along with a banana, some milk and yogurt, ice cubes, a spoonful of sugar, and voila!, the Bananocado Smoothie was born! It was a lovely creamy green colour and pretty darn tasty. And satisfying -- I'm full! The kids and I agreed that we would definitely make it again.

I love that children don't have rigid epicurean ideas. If we want vegetables in a smoothie, then in they go! (Although technically, avocado is a fruit.) The Bananocado will settle into the recipe file between Pumpkin Smoothie and Carrot-Apple Tofu Smoothie.

Anyone else have (successful) food experiments to share?
